Hiʻuwai & E Ala Ē Ceremony
We begin the new day with a ceremonial cleanse to rejuvenate and energize our mind, body and soul in preparation for our weekend event. We will meet beachside with a simple Hawaiian Ceremony. Our kahu will then let us know that it is time to hiʻuwai. Each person will enter the water in silence to immerse and cleanse their spirit. Let go of anything that no longer serves them and start a new beginning. Once we all return to the beach, we will chant E Ala E! The chant E Ala E says “Arise, Awake! The sun is in the east. Shining from the highest heavens to the deepest ocean, arise, awake!”. This chant is a reminder to us that we can not go back to yesterday. Today is a new day. Today we will make better decisions. Today we will do what is right for our land and do what is right for our people. E Ala Ē
