MICHAEL PYE NAMED AREA GENERAL MANAGER, FAIRMONT HAWAI’I AND GENERAL MANAGER FAIRMONT KEA LANI

Wayne Buckingham, Accor Hotels Senior Vice President, Operations, is pleased to announce and welcome Michael Pye as Area General Manager for Hawai‘i and General Manager for Fairmont Kea Lani. Michael will oversee the luxury 450-key all-suite and villa luxury resort. As the Area General Manager, Michael will also oversee the 540-room Fairmont Orchid, located on Hawai’i’s Kohala Coast.

Michael brings over 20 years of experience to the position, joining Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge in 1996 followed by a series of progressive roles with Fairmont Hotels at multiple properties including Fairmont Hotel Macdonald, Fairmont Waterfront and Fairmont Southampton. In 2010, he returned to Canada as General Manager, Fairmont Winnipeg and in 2014, he was appointed to his most recent position as General Manager, Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Michael holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary with majors in marketing and tourism hospitality management.

Serving on a number of varied boards in Vancouver, Michael has always been an active member in the tourism community. His recent involvement includes chair of the Hotel Association of Vancouver, chair of Partners in Tourism Society, and Tourism Industry Partners Golf Tournament, vice-chair of the Vancouver Hotel Destination Association.

Michael is passionate about cultural immersion, outdoor recreation and the environment. He is an avid scuba diver and is excited to discover the island of Maui by sea and by land with his wife and children.
