Scope: Begin with the end in mind
Revitalizing the connection with our guests and our cultural heritage
The Hoʻomaka Hou project represents a 12-month, multimillion-dollar transformation of the resort’s collection of suites and villas along with a redesigned lobby, new restaurant and bar along with the creation of an immersive and engaging cultural center. The scope of the Hoʻomaka Hou project goes far beyond the physical features of the reinvestment into the Wailea property. It marks a cultural renaissance for the resort, led by a hui (group) of practitioners, Fairmont Kea Lani’s cultural heritage will come to life in new ways for guests and colleagues.
The schedule for this project is designed to help minimize guest disruption. The transformation will be completed in phases created to isolate individual hotel towers and to insulate the majority of construction to those areas.
- The Suites + Villas portion will take place primarily between March 2022 through September 2022—at which time 65% of all accommodations will be newly renovated.
- The first phase of newly renovated Suites will welcome guests in Summer 2022.
- In August 2022, the Grand Entrance/Lobby phase begins. These public areas will reopen in mid-December 2022 prior to the festive holiday period.
- The final phase of Suites and Villa renovation is planned to resume in mid January 2023 and wrap in late April 2023.
